Round 3 Day 3

The townsfolk went to bed, pleased that they'd managed to catch one of the villains. However, one of them would not wake up the next morning.

That was the way things worked in Mafia town. You'd start to get ahead, but people would still end up dying. It sucked, for those people. The mafioso found it fun. One last murder before the gallows. Better make it a good one.

Jai returned home to find her door hanging ajar. She grabbed a large stick and hesitantly peeked in the doorway. "Hello?"

Her house was empty, as far as she could tell. The place had been torn apart a bit. It looked like someone had done as much destruction as they could in five minutes.

"I'm not scared of you," Jai lied.

No one answered.

The back door was open, too, and there was a note taped to it with fluorescent pink duct tape. Jai approached it cautiously and squinted, trying to make out the words in the dying light.

You kill my sister, I kill yours.

"No!" she yelled. "No no no no no no no!"

She ran over to her twin's house, but it was too late.

Dugglyn, Twin, lay in a pool of her own blood. When she saw her sister, she made a feeble attempt at sitting up.

"Save your energy," Jai whispered. "You'll make it through this."

"No," Dugglyn said. "I don't think I will. The doctor's dead and I... I'm losing a lot of blood."

"Stay with me, please..."

"Don't hate yourself... For not being... The one to die... You know I'd... Sacrifice myself... To save you... I love you, Jai." Dugglyn exhaled, and her soul flew out of her body into some sort of afterlife if you believe in that.

Jai watched it go. Because she could communicate telepathically with her twin, she could sense her soul, and she knew that Dugglyn was at peace.

It wasn't enough, though.

Somebody was going to pay for this.

Round 3 Night 3

After 24 hours, the verdict hadn't changed. Taia was brought up to the eco-friendly gallows.

"Do you have any last words?" Henry asked politely.

Taia nodded. "You're making a horrible mistake," she whispered, a single dramatic tear rolling down her cheek. When she realized that they would show no mercy, she dropped the act. She pulled her hand free to wipe the tear away and grinned. "You're still all going to die."

Henry spontaneously grew a mustache. "Après-vous, Mademoiselle DeMars."

A few seconds later, it was over. The body of Taia, Mafioso, dangled lifelessly from the rope.

Round 3 Day 2

Once the night was dark, a certain person returned to a certain phone booth-like transportation device to grab some supplies. The aforementioned person set out again, towards the center of town. They peeked into a window and nodded. Their services would not be needed today.

Upon returning home, Snow Stormberg, Doctor, immediately noticed something was amiss. Her TARDIS was sending distress signals across the space-time continuum, and the air conditioning was adjusted three degrees lower than she liked it.

"Who's there?" she called.

A masked Mafia member appeared from the shadows. "So good to see you."

Snow scowled. "You've made the TARDIS upset. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"I think I'll turn the question around to you. What do you have to say? These will be your last words, after all."

"I will always remember when the Doctor was me."

The Mafia member nodded. "That'll do." They pulled out a gun and fired three times. Just. Like. That.

Snow blinked and she was dead.

As night fell, the gallows remained empty. The townsfolk trudged home, everyone avoiding eye contact with each other, except for two individuals who gave each other a brief nod, unseen by everyone else.

Round 3 Day 1

At least one person did not go home when the sun set. They lurked in the shadows, notebook in hand. Nobody came to visit their target for the first few hours, but then they saw a shape.
“Interesting.” If their target wound up dead, they would know who to blame. They scribbled a few notes and then looked up to see someone standing over them with a knife.

Too late, Kaden, Busybody realized that the Mafia hadn't come for his target--they'd come for him. He tried to run, but only made it a few steps before the knife impaled itself in his leg. He crumpled to the ground. The mafioso removed the knife and stabbed him again, this time in the chest. A few stabs later, their job was done. They scooped up his body and the notebook, which had fallen from his bloody hand.

The next morning, the town woke to the smell of smoke. The gallows was burning, and Kaden’s body burned with it. Somewhere in the crowd, the mafioso refrained from smiling, but it was difficult. The notebook with the only incriminating evidence had been the first to burn.

The Hidden Mafia could be either a Framer or an Evil Roleblocker, and the Hidden Towns could be Twins, Roleblockers, Busybodies. If there are Twins, there are exactly two, but there could be any number of Roleblockers or busybodies (well, not more than three in this game). See the previous post for descriptions. There are no neutrals in this game.

IT IS NOW NIGHT 1

Emails with your roles have been sent out and comment moderation has been turned on. When you receive your email, comment immediately, saying "role received" or something like that. You then have until Wednesday, June 29th at 9pm PST to submit your actions. THE NIGHT MAY END LATE BECAUSE I AM TRAVELING THAT DAY. It also may end early if everyone submits their actions early, but I can't promise this.

Mini-Mafia v. 3?

I told you I'd have another round up in June, so here you go. Sign up in the comments below if you're interested.

Role list will contain a combination of the following roles. Note that there are no paranoid, naive or insane cops. Also, certain Mafia members may have special powers now, and not all townsfolk will have special powers.

Town
Citizen- No special powers, just another vote for the town

Twin- No special powers, but can have a night chat with the other twin and talk privately. There will always be exactly two or none at all.

Cop- Can investigate one person per night, receives a verdict of guilty for all Mafia except the Godfather, innocent for everyone else. There will be exactly one.

Doctor- Can heal one person each night. There will be exactly one.

Roleblocker- Can prevent one person from doing their normal night action. Can't roleblock another roleblocker. If they attempt this, they will receive a notification that their roleblock failed. However, they will not receive any notification if they roleblock a citizen. There could be none or there could be any number.

Busybody- Can watch one person per night. Will be notified if anyone (Doctor, cop, mafioso, etc) visits that person.

Mafia
Godfather- In charge of the Mafia. Can only be killed by a lynch during the day.

Mafioso- Can kill one person each night (limit one kill for all Mafia)

Framer- Can frame an innocent person so they will appear guilty if investigated or a guilty person so they'll seem innocent. Can also be chosen to kill someone, but will not be able to both kill and frame in the same night.

Evil Roleblocker- Can prevent one person from doing their normal night action. Can't roleblock another roleblocker. If they attempt this, they will receive a notification that their roleblock failed. However, they will not receive any notification if they roleblock a citizen.

Neutral

Survivor- Has two immunity vests. Can't be killed at night if wearing one. Goal is to survive until the end. Can win with town or Mafia, but not with serial killer.

Serial Killer- Has two immunity vests. Can't be killed at night if wearing one. Can also kill one person per night. Goal is to be the last one standing.

Executioner- Will be assigned a random target at the beginning of the game. Goal is to get that target lynched.

Certain roles will be hidden from the rolelist until the player is dead. For example: Twins, Roleblockers, and busybodies will be listed as "hidden town." Framer or evil roleblocker will be listed as "hidden Mafia," and all neutral roles will be listed as "hidden neutral." When people die, their exact role will be revealed in the story, and the appropriate listing, whether it is that role name or. "Hidden ______" will be removed.
