Round 5 - Day 1

The citizens lay awake in their beds, uneasy and unsure. Surely nothing bad can happen. Still, people are unsure as they drift off to an anxious sleep. But as the sun rises the next morning, there are no bodies to be found, and no traces of blood...

Be that as it may, there are still townsfolk that swear through and through that they saw a shadow darting through the night.

Are there really murders lurking among us?

Wait, no one died? That's brilliant!

Star Inkbright said...

Ahhhh the sun is shining the birds are singing the tank is clean and I AM NOT DEAD so all is good. :)

Right. Nobody died. So the hidden neutral isn't a serial killer.
Also, either the Mafia is indecisive or there's a roleblocker about, probably.

Star Inkbright said...

^hidden neutral PROBABLY isn't a serial killer

Star Inkbright said...

"No bodies to be found, and no traces of blood"
I think it's unlikely that the victim was healed. Role blocker is much more likely.

Star Inkbright said...

*contemplates* Or, equally likely, the Mafia tried to kill someone wearing a bulletproof vest.
At which point there's either a Survivor or a Serial Killer.
More likely to be a Survivor. The serial killer is statistically less likely to be killed on the first night (no reason to suspect them, only a one in four chance if being picked as opposed to a higher chance on later days), so if I were a serial killer I'd leave the vest off on the first night and kill someone instead. Then again, the serial killer might not have followed that logic, OR they could have rationalised that they were a likely target. The same logic applies to the survivor really (can't kill anyone, but only have two vests), so assuming that it was a vest and not a roleblocker, the serial killer/survivor is likely to be someone who was likely to be targeted (they knew it and so did the Mafia).
Therefore I rationalise that, if it was a vest and not a roleblocker, the serial killer/survivor is likely to be Noelle. Because she got us really well last game and tbh if I were the Mafia I'd want to kill her first because her skill scared me. :P And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Of course, it could be someone else.

I just woke up at 5am because spiders, but I'm not dead, so yay.

I believe the SK can both use a vest and kill someone in the same night. However, I don't know if Snow's using the roles the same ways I did. She made some changes to the list that wouldn't make sense for the roles as I intended them (i.e. moving the Ghost/Remnant to the Mafia list. I have been meaning to ask her why she did that but also I'm not a ghost so)

Also on the rolelist, there isn't a town-aligned roleblocker option.

Fabi said...

Also I keep thinking every itch is either a spider or the Mafia

Bleh

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

I agree, I don't think they were healed because usually it does say, although snow might be writing with different rules, but I think she'd still give a hint if there was a murder and then the person was healed.

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

So it's probably either a serial killer or a survivor, since role blocker wasn't on the townies list and I doubt the Mafia just did nothing.

Adra Cruciatus said...

Honestly, since there were no clues whatsoever, there is no point in trying to figure something out- no one died, we don't know who the mafia is...

And literally we all will go mad with attempting to find sense in a senseless situation

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

No but we can possibly use this situation to figure out what the neutral role is which is better than knowing nothing?

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

Plus we shoul at least wait until everyone has left a comment?

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

There might not be any obvious clues but that doesn't mean there aren't any clues at all.

Adra Cruciatus said...

Okay, you can do that if you want, but I'm leaving my vote. All the thinking around and around and around in circles drives me insane.

Fabi said...

Somebody might have info. I'm not skipping until everyone has commented. I'm also not going to vote to hang someone while we have no evidence, but I don't want to rush forward just yet.

Fabi said...

It's probably true that we won't accomplish anything though. Let's assume for the purpose of this narrative that Dugglyn is the cop and she investigated me and found me innocent. She wouldn't want to say anything because it's not really a good idea to come out as cop unless you have a guilty verdict to share. Also she couldn't be 100% certain that I hadn't been framed by my fellow Mafia member. Of course, she might pull a Star and reveal her role anyway, but she also saw how that didn't work out well for Star, so I don't think she would.

It's possible that somebody else besides Dugglyn is the cop though. Actually, it's much more likely that she's not the cop. I probably should have used a random name that meant nothing to me for this anecdote because I started assuming that the cop would think like Dugglyn, which is not a very good assumption. However, I think pretty much everyone wouldn't reveal their role.

Fabi said...

Also if say Beethoven was the busybody and he watched me, he'd have seen the hypothetical Dugglyn investigate me. He might think maybe that I was the survivor and Dugglyn the Mafia. However, he couldn't be sure of this. He might say something, or he might decide to wait and investigate the person he thought most likely to die the next night, and then if they died and he saw Dugglyn and Oscar visit them he'd probably say something. In that scenario, we wouldn't know whether Dugglyn or Oscar or both were Mafia members.

Both is definitely possible. I was in a game where the Mafia roleblocker and another Mafia member both targeted the vigilante (equivalent to Monster Hunter). They didn't want her killing one of them on the night she died.

Fabi said...

Things I have learned.

Dugglyn is the Cop
Beethoven is the Busybody
I am apparently either the doctor or survivor.
Oscar is a Mafia member
This list is bullshit.

I'm going to shut up now.

Adra Cruciatus said...

I haven't heard from Aretha today, or since yesterday. It's entirely possible that she has just been asleep- but usually before we go to bed, we will send a text to each other before going to sleep.. And I didn't see one this morning, so..

I don't know anything about Alastair. I just hope Ari is ok :/

Dugglyn Carzainia said...

I don't want to skip the day either yet, though of course I don't want to hang anyone.
The first day and the second kill (or hopefully save for the doctor) are good ways to start figuring out who the Mafia members are.

But I'd just like to say this now, being quiet is not necessarily guilty. It could really go either way. Maybe someone just doesn't want attention drawn to themselves. I was going to say something else and now i completely forgot because I've been typing this for a while because I'm driving to camp and I'm exhausted and everyone keeps talking to me and distracting me and my thoughts are not solid things, the are flying are like cantaloupe.

Sorry

Anyways

Dugglyn Carzainia said...

Hope she is okay :/

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

I hope Ari is okay Noelle.

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

Also enjoy camp Dug!

Star Inkbright said...

Noelle, by wanting to skip the day before discussing, you're just convincing me that you have something to hide. XD

@Fabi: *re-checks list* ahhh no there isn't. Okay, then imo there is almost definitely a serial killer/survivor. And thanks for pointing out that the serial killer than likely do both . . . I'd really like confirmation from Snow on whether they can or not, but until then, I'll assume it's a survivor. That's a relief. :P Serial killers sound scary, and I like being more certain about things.

*keeps pondering*

Star Inkbright said...

Oh but I agree with Dugglyn about the being quiet thing. Sometimes om quiet purely because I'm really busy. It doesn't necessarily mean anything.

We have to be really careful about not just accepting things as expressions of guilt just because someone says they are. Last game Noelle made me and Jai look guilty by accusing us of things like being logical and preemptive statements, and as she worded them like accusations, people thought they made me and Jai look guilty when actually, to me, both those things would naturally be indicative of a lack of guilty. We have to be careful not to be manipulated and to not just nod along with what other people suggest, because remember, a third of us are secretly evil here. :P

^something I should have said last game but didn't realise until it was too late.

Right. If anyone's roleblocked, it would be really helpful if you could tell us (you don't have to say tour role so it should be safe for you). If no one speaks up, I'll assume that the Mafia doesn't consist of a roleblocker this game. That leaves us with vampire, godfather, ghost and framer.
I hope to hell they don't have a vampire. XD That role is lethal.
Would also be helpful if the cop told us their results, but I understand that they probably wouldn't want to do that.

Adra Cruciatus said...

No, I wanna skip a day because I know we have been here before, and I'm 99% positive that we won't get anywhere with it.

Plus, when I have to suffer through (again) people trying to find sense (when nothing has happened- it's possible the mafia didn't even try to attack), it makes me want to quit the game.

Adra Cruciatus said...

Because games are meant to be fun, not stressful.

Alastair Cruciatus said...

I sincerely apologize for causing you worry, Noelle. My author and I are quite alright- she has only been busy preparing to host cousins who will arrive later today.
It is heartening to see that no one's been killed, although it doesn't leave us much to go off of. And I can't deny that a good murder would've been entertaining. I rather concur with Fabienne and Noelle- even though it seems quite apparent that there is a roleblocker among us, there isn't solid evidence to support anything else just yet.

Fabi said...

Well, everybody's commented now, so I'm ok skipping the day.

I will second what Star said, if you were roleblocked, you can come forward without revealing your role. Like I'm not gonna order you, but also it might be kinda helpful.

Fabi said...

Also! The Mafia might have a roleblocker, but the roleblocker was the one who tried to take the kill. And maybe the one who didn't was a framer or something.

Star Inkbright said...

Yes, games are meant for fun, and for me, the fun in playing Mafia comes from the discussion/analysis. If you don't like it and you don't think you'll gain anything from it, you can just, you know, not read it.

Regardless, I've done most of the discussing I can this round, so if nobody has anything else to add I don't mind if you skip.

@Fabi: Good point . . . stupidly, that didn't occur to me. :/ Okay, there could still be a roleblocker, then.

Alastair Cruciatus said...

If no more evidence is brought to light- and at this point, it doesn't seem there will be- I am also alright with skipping the day.

Fabi said...

A Serial Kill can use the vest and kill on the same night, yes.

Star Inkbright said...

@Snow: Ah, thank you. :) More likely to be a survivor, then.

Silente Tempest (Jai) - St Of Sinners said...

If the hidden neutral is a serial killer then between them and the Mafia the townies could lose in a single night.

Star Inkbright said...

@Jai: Indeed.

I hate serial killers as much as I hate vampires. -_-
*crosses fingers for a survivor*

Dugglyn Carzainia said...

Snow, what is majority for this round? Because we may have reached it.

I am fine voting now, I just wanted to make sure everyone said something, but I agree, skipping now sounds good!
